Evolution PCC is a very flexible risk vehicle and every application to utilise our vehicle will be assessed on a case by case basis.
We have provided some examples of where we should be able to assist you in providing a protected cell solution

Are you an insurance broker who struggles to place global fine art risk and related risks such as jewellers block or musical instruments directly into the Lloyd’s or other markets? Or are you successful at this but wish to explore the increased efficiency of direct access to the reinsurance

If so Evolution Insurance PCC Limited (Evolution PCC) is a Guernsey licensed PCC which can be utilised to write niche insurance products from an offshore domicile and in turn reinsure its cells
with specialist Lloyd’s underwriters.
Evolution PCC can utilise a protected cell to write insurance for Fine Art and related business, including coverage for sculptures, paintings, drawings, other artwork, items of jewellery and
musical instruments.
The basic structure of operation is as follows:

The Cell retains a small proportion of each loss above which losses are fully reinsured on an excess of loss basis typically by Lloyds Syndicates. The cell retains premiums amounting to a percentage of the Gross Written Premiums (GWP) being ceded to the Cell as its facility fee and the remaining GWP less initial ceding commission will be paid away as reinsurance premium. This net premium retained by the Cell is always more than sufficient to fund the Cellís maximum retained aggregate exposure such that the majority of the client fine art risk is passed through to well rated and financially secure reinsurers.
The offshore nature of this coverage allows our sophisticated and high net worth individual clients to access the specific type of cover that they need via the reinsurance market and we work with major Brokers such as Gallagher Heath to provide their clients the coverage they are looking for.
The Broker retains the client contact and places all of the reinsurance sat behind the protected cell, although underwriting decisions, the binding of risks and acceptance of claims by the cell
must take place in Guernsey. Through similar mechanisms our protected cells are also able to offer kidnap and ransom coverage for individuals who require this type of indemnity.
The typical level of premiums for effective operating of the protected cell arrangement is upwards of £1m. If you broke premiums of less than this amount then please feel free to contact us and we may be able to facilitate more efficient placement of risks without going down a dedicate cell route. Should you require any additional information on the activities and capabilities of Evolution PCC then please do not hesitate to contact William Bidwell in the first instance or a member of the Robus service team.
